There are 12 trees

in the garden including a

Maackia amurensis, Norway spruce,

And Magnolia hypoleuca.

Here’s a look at

Magnolia ‘Yellow Bird’

There are at least 40 kinds

of yellow magnolia

 in cultivation.

Two other excellent

cultivars are

 ‘Elizabeth

 and ‘Butterflies’

 

 

 

 

The pink-flowering

dogwood

(Cornus florida ‘Rubra’)

 is a popular

medium-sized tree.

Other top cultivars

include ‘Cherokee Sunset’

and ‘Cherokee Chief’

The Japanese maple

(Acer japonicum ‘Acontifolium’)

has deeply cut leaves

that remain an attractive

shade of green

all summer and

turn brilliant,

flame red

in fall

 

 

 

 

 

The silk tree

(Albizia julibrissin)

 has delicate, feathery,

 fern-like foliage

and fluffy pink flowers

 in midsummer.

 It grows 15 to 20 feet

 (4.5 to 6 m), can tolerate

 minor frosts but

 thrives best in

 south- or west-facing

 locations.

Angel’s trumpet

(Brugmansia) is not

hardy enough to be left

outside over winter,

but if lifted or grown in

a pot and moved into

a protected environment

it can develop into a

sizeable patio tree

which can be moved

outdoors every spring

to provide

a wonderful display

of fragrant flowers

in summer

 

 

The red locust tree

(Manglietia insignis) is

an elegant evergreen

member of the magnolia family

that produces large erect red

buds that open into

pale pink flowers

in summer.
