Before coming to Canada in 1975, he worked for various newspapers in the U.K. including the London Evening News, the Bristol Post and the Nottingham Evening Post.

Steve and his wife, Loraine, have three children, now all in their 20s and 30s. At their home in Burnaby, Steve and Loraine have a beautiful English-style garden, composed of a mix of trees, shrubs, vines, roses and perennials.

Come with me for an autumn stroll

Autumn is a wonderful season for colour.

Leaves on trees turn from green to shades of red and yellow. Roses produce their final flush of blooms.

And all sorts of late-bloomers - rudbeckia, Japanese anemones, Sedum 'Autumn Joy' and various ornamental grasses - put on sensational displays.

One of my favourite walks at this time of the year is at Deer Lake, which is quite close to my home in Burnaby.

Come and see some of the lovely tranquil views on this walk, and also some of the sights at the delightful Century Park Garden, which is in the same area.

So this is your garden?

Well, this is at least my fourth garden on this site. I change it all the time. Where there once was a blue passion vine, there's a red climbing rose.

Where once there was a 'Butterfly' maple, there's now a Yakushimanum rhododendron.

This is the garden's latest incarnation. Plants have been move around or sometimes they've been removed to make way for new plants.

Anyway, come and look around. CLICK HERE
